Potent Potables - Bichette, Jr., Montero, Wheeler, Schmidt

• IndiansProspectInsider.com has a piece up profiling the season of Indians prospect LeVon Washington.
• Yankees 3B prospect Dante Bichette, Jr. has been named the MVP of the Gulf Coast League, reports MiLB.com.  In the majors, the team debuted its top two catching prospects, Jesus Montero and Austin Romine, behind the plate on the same day, notes Mark Feinsand of The New York Daily News.
• John Sickles provides brief scouting reports on some notable short-season players, including Miguel Sano of the Twins and Joe Panik of the Giants.

• Nick Schmidt threw eight scoreless innings to help lead the Padres High-A affiliate to the California League championship game, says David Heck of MiLB.com.
• The Cardinals have their rotation set for their Low-A affiliate in Quad Cities' championship series, led by Trevor Rosenthal, who will be throwing game three, according to Derrick Goold of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Prospect Action - Lavarnway, Hendriks, Dominguez, Wheeler

• Hak-Ju Lee recorded two more hits and scored another two runs as the Rays SS prospect continues to hit the baseball consistently, notes ClawDigest.com, which also discusses 2011 draft pick Granden Goetzman, who hit another double and scored another run.
• Ryan Lavarnway doubled and hit his sixth homer in seven games on Tuesday night, as the Red Sox catching prospect continues to swing a scorching-hot bat, notes WPRI.com.
• Alex Liddi hit a three-run homer in a loss for the Mariners Triple-A affiliate in Tacoma, notes The News Tribune.
• The Twins promtoed pitcher Liam Hendriks to Triple-A, where the righty allowed just two runs over 6 2/3 innings of work, says David Heck of MiLB.com.  Fellow Twins prospect Miguel Sano had a great day at the plate despite his team's blowout loss, as the Dominican 3B prospect slugged two solo homers.
• Will Smith threw the first seven innings of what turned out to be a no-hitter for him and his fellow Royals prospects, reports David Schoenholtz of MiLB.com.
• Marlins 3B prospect Matt Dominguez homered on Tuesday night, notes Tim Grubbs of NOLA.com.
• Tim Wheeler was a part of back-to-back-to-back home runs by Rockies prospects on Tuesday, says Robert Emrich of MiLB.com.

• Matt Hagen of The Hardball Times discusses where many of the 2010 draft picks are going to fall within his top-100 rankings, assuming they sign.
• People are beginning to change their opinions about Andrew Brackman, says E.J. Hagen of TYU.
• Ben Revere is making a name for himself within the Twins organization, reports Matt Stucko of MLB.com.
• Koby Clemens is taking to first base, but really just wants to hit, says Todd Traub of MLB.com.
• Chorye Spoone is almost back to his old self after arm surgery in 2008, according to Stephanie Storm of MLB.com.
• Marc Hulet of Fan Graphs.com takes a look at some of the top third base prospects from around the minors including Mike Moustakas, Miguel Sano, Matt Dominguez, Matt Davidson, and Cody Overbeck.

Notable Prospect Performances - 6/10

It wasn't as memorable a night in Washington as the one before, but two prospects made their major league debuts Wednesday night, this time for the visiting Pirates.  Jose Tabata led off and had two hits, and Brad Lincoln started the game for the Buccos, in what was a much more traditional big league debut than the one witnessed 24 hours earlier.

• Pedro Alvarez had a monster day at the plate, perhaps attempting to prove to the Pirates that he should have been called up too.
• Another 3-hit day for Mike Trout.  Yawn.
• Twins' 3B prospect Miguel Sano hit his 2nd homerun of the season in Dominican Summer League Action.
• Don't look now, but Dustin Ackley's batting average is creeping back up towards respectability.
• The good Carlos Carrasco was on hand Wednesday night.
• And the good Randall Delgado seems to always show up.

• Andrew Carpenter got a shaky win in his first major league start for the Phillies, but as expected, he was sent back to Triple-A after the game, reports Andy Martino of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
• Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette gives us a nice breakdown the pros and cons for the Pirates signing the consensus top international prospect, Miguel Angel Sano, for upwards of $4 million.
• Adding to the number of rookies in their starting rotation, the Washington Nationals have announced that they will be calling up pitcher Ross Detwiler to start on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, report Chico Harlan and Zach Berman of the Washington Post.
• 3B prospect Matt Tuiasosopo of the Seattle Mariners will miss 3-6 weeks due to elbow surgery, reports Bud Withers of the Seattle Times.
