As we near the end of March, every team has it's share of tough decisions regarding the last few spots on their roster. MLBPW will keep you up to speed any time those decisions involve prospects. Here are some links from over the weekend:
- When Dodgers' camp began, it was understood that the 5th spot in the starting rotation was James McDonald's to lose, but as Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports, McDonald was doing just that until a solid start on Saturday. With little in the way of reliable starting pitching depth, the job appears to still be McDonald's to lose.
- One of the reasons the Twins didn't over extend themselves to get Juan Cruz this off-season was the existence of prospect Jose Mijares who they thought was ready to play a key role in their 2009 bullpen, but as La Velle E. Neal III of the Minnesota Star-Tribune reports, Mijares is not pitching like a player ready for the major leagues.
- Jeff Larish may be road blocked by Miguel Cabrera at 1B, but thanks to his versatility in the field reports John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press, Larish may still have a spot on the Tigers' roster.
