- Relievers are expected to move quickly through the minors, and Drew Storen is no exception, notes Lacy Lusk of Baseball America. Storen is in Double-A for the time being, but he should be in a Nationals' uniform by mid-season, and could be their closer soon after that if Matt Capps becomes a valuable trade commodity at the deadline.
- What do you do with a player who was a closer in college, has been a closer in the pros, and is currently struggling to find his niche in the majors? Well you make him a starter of course. Confused? You should be. The New York Mets have inserted Eddie Kunz into the starting rotation at Double-A Binghamton, but as Steve Popper reports for Baseball America, the move is just an attempt to get Kunz more innings of work. The career reliever's future remains in the bullpen, but he will continue to log innings as a starter to get more experience in hopes of speeding up his major league timetable.
- We've mentioned it before, but Roch Kubatko of Baseball America has some more on the Orioles' decision to move Bill Rowell back to third base after a shift to the outfield last season.
- Joe Beimel's promotion to Colorado meant that Esmil Rogers is heading back to Triple-A, according to Steve Foster of Inside the Rockies.
