Despite the end of the minor league regular season, there are many big name prospects still active thanks to the minor league playoffs.
- Michael Olt, a supplemental 1st round pick of the Texas Rangers this past season, is helping to lead his Spokane team into the Northwest League championship, reports Robert Emrich of MLB.com.
- Attempting to play against Spokane in that championship but falling just short was Michael Choice, the 10th overall pick in this year's draft by the Oakland A's, says Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com, who notes also that Choice will be heading to the instructional league in Arizona this winter.
- Mayo also reports on Tim Beckham's playoff experience in the Florida State League, which will be a good learning opportunity for the former first overall pick by the Rays in 2008.
- Also getting some valuable playoff experience is 2010 draftee Cory Vaughn, the Mets fourth round pick, who has put on a display of power that has helped lead his Brooklyn Cyclones to the New York-Penn League playoffs, says Bailey Stephens of MLB.com.
