- Cincinnati Reds outfield prospect Chris Dickerson will get his chances with the Reds this season, but, as John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports, it will primarily be in a platoon situation. Dickerson has yet to start against a left-handed pitcher in 2009.
- Oft-injured Cleveland Indians pitching prospect Adam Miller will begin throwing to live hitters again next week, reports Greg Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Miller is attempting to come back from stiffness on the middle finger of his right (throwing) hand.
- Most of the attention was on Tigers phenom Rick Porcello, but the Toronto Blue Jays had a rookie of their own making his first career start, Ricky Romero. The 2005 1st round pick was making his first major league appearance, and as Morgan Campbell of the Toronto Star reports, it went pretty well.
