St. Louis Cardinals top prospect Shelby Miller has been suspended indefinitely for what is being called an "violation of team policy," according to Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, although he goes on to quote multiple sources that say the incident was alcohol related and that this is not the first such incident for Miller.
There is no timetable for the suspension, although Kary Booher suggests it could be brief. The team had been considering shutting Miller down anyway due to his workload, so perhaps that played a role into the suspension as well. Apparently, even Cardinals big league manager Tony LaRussa played a role in the punishment, tweets Joe Strauss of the Post-Dispatch, although no explanation as to why.
