- After a long season that has included two minor league stops and a stint with Team USA, the Kansas City Royals may elect to pull third base prospect Mike Moustakas out of winter ball in the Dominican Winter League, reports Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star. Moustakas cemented his status as a top-level prospect in 2010, and there may be little left in the way of development that would benefit him more than resting up for Spring Training. Eric Hosmer, on the other hand, is finishing off an equally impressive season by playing in the AFL
- Joe Mahoney, who entered the year as a fringe prospect but emerged as the Orioles minor league hitter of the year, injured his wrist in a Venezuelan Winter League game and has returned home to have it checked by team doctors, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun.
- The thumb injury that forced Freddie Freeman to leave the Arizona Fall League early will now keep him out of game action for the rest of the winter, reports David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The injury is not thought to have serious long-term ramifications, and the Braves are keeping Freeman out of the AFL in order to ensure he is healthy to compete for a starting position this spring.
- Josh Vitters also lost time this year do to a finger injury, but he's making those at-bats up with his time in the AFL, says Carrie Muskat of MLB.com.
