The Washington Nationals announced today that they will be sending top pick Bryce Harper to the Arizona Fall League, reports Bill Ladson of MLB.com. Harper will report to the Scottsdale Scorpions on Tuesday and will be on the team's taxi squad, meaning he can only play in games on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Harper is joining the AFL after hitting .319 in the instructional league and posting a .407 on-base percentage. Also mentioned in Ladson's article is Harper's placement for the 2011 season, which GM Mike Rizzo says will be A-ball and that Harper will not be rushed.
