The Indians have finally made the long-awaited move of promoting top prospect Carlos Santana to the major leagues, reports Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes. Jeff Sullivan of SBNation has his take on the move, as does ESPN's Rob Neyer.
Santana should provide a jolt to the Indians' offense and a ideally a boost in the clubhouse as well. The top catching prospect in baseball, Santana was hitting .316/.447/.597 with 13 home runs in Triple-A at the time of his promotion.
He is expected to join the team tonight in Washington and will likely be behind the plate.
