That's what St. Louis Cardinals' manager Tony LaRussa said Allen Craig would have to do to make the team this spring -- hit. And that's exactly what he's done, reports Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Cardinals need a right-handed bat on their bench, and are looking at Craig to possibly fill that role.
The 25-year-old Craig, naturaly a third baseman, was the Cardinals' minor league player of the year in 2009, and has seen time at 1B and in LF during his minor league career. His versatility could help him make the roster, but it will ultimately be his bat that is the deciding factor. Craig's main competition for a roster spot are Joe Mather and Nick Stavinoha.
