We've learned a lot about Jason Heyward the baseball player recently, as his meteoric rise through the Braves' minor league system has brought him to the doorstep of Turner Field, but as Michelle Hiskey reports for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Heyward hasn't forgotten his roots.
The Braves will be tempted to start Heyward in Atlanta this season, as the big-league club is in desperate need of more offense and the hometown RF would be a perfect fit, but the combination of only 208 plate appearances above A ball and the temptation to delay his free agency by a year may be enough to delay his Turner Field debut.
Stay tuned to MLB Prospect Watch all spring for updates on Heyward and all of the other prospects battling for a spot in the bigs.
